The South African government has unveiled a remodeled status of legendary Zulu warrior, King Shaka.
President Cyril Ramaphosa unveiled the Statue of King Shaka at the King Shaka International Airport in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal alongside Majesty King Misizulu KaZwelithini and other dignitaries.
President Ramaphosa in a post on it’s official page X handle, described the statue as a symbol of unity, integrity, and leadership for all South Africans.
The South African leader also expressed hope that the statue would inspire tourists to learn more about the country’s heritage and history.
The 12-metre-tall figure which showed the man credited with uniting the Zulu nation as a warrior with a spear and shield replaces a previous artwork that was described as unworthy for a revered figure in South African history.
Shaka Zulu whose real name was Shaka KaSenzangakhona was born in 1787.
He was the king of the Zulu Kingdom from 1816 to 1828 and one of the most influential traditional rulers of the Zulu Kingdom widely known for his outstanding reforms, especially in the Zulu military.
