Nigerian music star, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has won the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
Her hit track “Love Me JeJe” earned her the prestigious award.
Tems faced stiff competition in the Best African Music Performance category, edging out notable artists such as Yemi Alade with “Tomorrow,” Asake and Wizkid’s collaboration “MMS,” Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay on “Sensational,” and Burna Boy’s “Higher.”
Tems has in the meantime dedicated the 67th Grammy Award to her mother after winning the Best African Music Performance category.
During an emotional acceptance speech, Tems dedicated the award to her mother, whose birthday was the following day.
She expressed gratitude to the mother for her unwavering support and love.
