Ethiopia, AeTrade Group Sign Landmark Agreement to Boost Regional Trade and Job Creation

The agreement was signed by H.E. Ambassador Mesganu Arga, State Minister at @MofaEthiopia, and Mr. Mulualem Syoum, CEO of AeTrade Group, the agreement aims to accelerate digital & financial inclusion and empower SMEs, women, and youth across Ethiopia and East Africa.

The landmark moment was witnessed by State Ministers from @MoLS_Ethiopia, @MoTRI_Ethiopia, and @ICTminEthiopia. Together, we’re driving impact for SMEs and their access to AfCFTA markets

The AeTrade Group is a social enterprise with a partnership with the AfCFTA Secretariat and is mandated by Executive Council Decision EX. CL./Dec.1144 (XL) of 2-3 February 2022, to work with the AUC and all stakeholders to accelerate Digital and Financial inclusion focusing on empowering SMEs, women, and youth across Africa.

Speaking on behalf of the Government of Ethiopia, Ambassador Mesganu Arga stated that “ the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commends Ato Mulualem and the AeTrade Group leadership for their vision and steadfast commitment to bring innovative solutions to complement our existing national efforts in digital capacity-building and export readiness for MSMEs in order to enjoy the benefits of the AfCFTA.

The #Ethiopian Envoy also stated that the establishment would help in its goal to catalyze the creation of between 80-125 million jobs by 2037 and support sustainable business groups using an integrated ecosystem that would be enabled.
