Chad’s capital, N’Djamena has returned to calm after security forces said they foiled an attack on the presidential compound.
The Chadian authorities disclosed that the 24 assailants who drove up to the presidential compound wielding knives and machetes, were a disorganized band who seemed to be intoxicated.
The group then feigned a breakdown and attacked security guards at the gate.
During the conflict, two guards were killed and five others were wounded.
The public prosecutor said the security forces killed 18 of the assailants and injured six.
Details of the incident remained unclear but investigations are underway.
